DESIGNED AROUND YOUR WORKFLOW

Protection that fits
the way you work.

Rust protection should consider handling, packaging and the process that follows. KG-3 combines a fast-drying film with a practical removal route.

01

A dry finish. A cleaner handoff.

The volatile carrier evaporates to leave a dense protective film. The thin film is non-tacky with little oily feel, suitable for parts that need clean handling.

02

Protection through storage.

Reference protection periods are one year without packaging and 3–5 years with plastic-bag packaging. Validate the target period against your surface condition, film formation, sealing and storage environment.

03

Ready for the next process.

The film is easily removed in alkaline solution. Establish a cleaning trial before painting, plating or assembly to confirm the next process requirements.

Steel shafts, sleeves and machined components

Discuss a steel-parts trial
THE CHALLENGE
Cleaned parts need rust protection while awaiting assembly or shipment, with a finish that is practical to handle and pack.
THE PROPOSED PROCESS
Clean → remove all water → dip in KG-3 → drain surplus oil → allow the film to form completely → pack to the agreed storage plan.
WHAT TO VERIFY
Trial representative parts. Record surface cleanliness, complete coverage, handling feel and changes during the planned storage interval.
APPLICATION EXAMPLE / 02

Protect the surface you want customers to see.

Copper fittings and machined copper components

Discuss copper compatibility
THE CHALLENGE
Visible copper surfaces need a protective process that also considers appearance and compatibility with subsequent cleaning or assembly.
THE PROPOSED PROCESS
Confirm the actual copper grade and any surface treatment → trial on clean, dry parts → use a consistent dip / drain / dry cycle → package after full film formation.
WHAT TO VERIFY
Compare pre-treatment and post-treatment appearance under the same lighting. Check surface changes, film removal and fit with the actual downstream process.
APPLICATION EXAMPLE / 03

Make the film and the packaging work together.

Steel or cast-iron spares held in storage

Build a storage trial plan
THE CHALLENGE
Longer storage intervals require more than selecting an oil: cleanliness, complete drying, packaging integrity and inspection planning all matter.
THE PROPOSED PROCESS
Verify substrate compatibility → clean and remove water → dip and drain → dry fully → bag and seal → define storage location and inspection intervals.
WHAT TO VERIFY
Use the 3–5 year reference period with plastic-bag packaging as a starting point, then validate the actual environment and packaging. Consider KG-8 / KG-9 for other long-term or export requirements.

GOOD PROTECTION STARTS WITH GOOD APPLICATION

Four steps.
One consistent process.

Standardize your application before scaling. Dipping is recommended; drain and allow the film to form fully before packaging.

  1. 01

    Clean and remove water

Start with clean, water-free parts. Remove all water before application.

  2. 02

    Apply a consistent film

Dip, brush or spray; dipping is economical and reliable. Do not use a rag to apply oil.

  3. 03

    Drain and let it dry

Let surplus oil drain and allow complete evaporation and film formation before packaging. Do not spin-dry.

  4. 04

    Pack for the conditions

Choose packaging around storage conditions. Record your process and inspect samples against your target protection interval.

Do not spin-dry. Do not apply with a rag. Do not oil parts above 40 °C. Keep the work area ventilated and follow the supplied MSDS for protection, storage and disposal.

BEFORE THE FIRST TRIAL

Questions,
answered.

Which metals can KG-3 protect?

KG-3 is suitable for steel, cast iron and copper parts, including machined components and spare parts. Alloy composition, surface treatments and residual cleaners can affect compatibility. Trial representative parts and check appearance, coverage and the next process; ask our engineers before using it on other metals.

How long can KG-3 protect a part?

The reference protection period is one year without packaging and 3–5 years with plastic-bag packaging. Actual performance depends on surface cleanliness, complete film formation, bag sealing, humidity and temperature changes. Set an inspection schedule and validate the target period under your own storage conditions.

What does 18–24 hours of salt-spray resistance mean?

The reference result is 18–24 hours on No. 45 steel using SH/T 0081. Salt spray is an accelerated laboratory test, not a direct conversion to storage or sea-freight life. Compare results only when the substrate, surface preparation, film and test method are comparable, then verify the complete packing process.

How should KG-3 be applied?

Clean the parts and remove all water. Apply by dipping, spraying or brushing; dipping is recommended where practical. Drain excess oil and allow the film to form fully before packing. Do not apply with a rag or spin-dry. Check recesses and contact points for complete coverage.

Can KG-3 be applied to wet or hot parts?

Parts must be clean and water-free, and must not exceed 40 °C when oiled. The application temperature range is −10 to 40 °C. Allow hot parts to cool and dry fully; check blind holes and recesses for trapped water before treatment.

Can the film be removed before the next process?

The film is readily removed in alkaline cleaning solution. Before painting, plating, welding or other surface-sensitive processes, run a cleaning trial on representative parts. Check cleaner compatibility, concentration, washing and rinsing conditions, and the cleanliness required by the next process.

How do I request a sample and quotation?

Tell us the metal and part dimensions, surface condition, application method, target protection period, storage or shipping conditions and estimated use. Photos and details of the next process are helpful. We can discuss grade selection, sample quantities and a trial plan before quotation.
