Formulation
Four building blocks, balanced for the job
A fast-drying rust preventive is built from a base oil, rust inhibitors, a volatile solvent and supporting additives. Changing the balance changes the film: its thickness, drying speed, protection period and how easily it can be removed.
- Base oil: refined mineral or synthetic, forms the film
- Rust inhibitors: fatty acids, sulfonates, amines
- Solvent: controls viscosity and drying speed
